The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking an outstanding post-doctoral scholar with an emerging program of research. The successful applicant will work with PI Dr. Rob Stephenson in the Center for Sexuality and Health Disparities and the Department of Systems, Populations and Leadership. The post-doctoral fellow will work primarily on the analysis of data from a large randomized controlled trial of a life skills intervention for LGBT youth. In addition, the post-doctoral fellow will be expected to pursue and develop their own independent research, mentored by Stephenson.
Objectives: The research fellow will focus on the following specific tasks:
Education and Experience:
*PhD in nursing, public health, psychology, social work, sociology or related health field is required.
*Strong quantitative and/or qualitative skills and research experience are preferred.
*Demonstrated proficiency with appropriate statistical software..
*Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.
*Successful applicants will be asked to provide proof that they can legally work and travel in the U.S. and internationally.
*A high degree of initiative and resourcefulness.
*Must reliably manage responsibilities and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
*Demonstrated excellent problem solving; analytical and critical thinking skills
*Ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines and display excellent judgment while operating in a flexible and professional manner; strong ability to multitask while remaining focused is essential.
*Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maximum collaboration in a team environment.
*Experience with reporting software and interpreting analysis is preferred.
*Ability to serve diverse populations.
*Working knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures preferred.
* Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications.
*An emerging reputation among colleagues for outstanding achievements and recognized contributions in their field of expertise.
