With strong connections to the IU School of Medicine and other health science schools on the IUPUI campus, the School of Public Health is poised to be a catalyst to help build a collaborative approach to improved public health in Indiana. The School of Public Health currently serves more than 600 students, employs over 20 full-time staff and is home to over 50 full-time faculty within the departments of Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Health Policy and Management, Environmental Health, and Biostatistics. The Program Coordinator will actively contribute to and be involved in the research activities of the Department of Health Policy & Management and the Center for Health Policy. This individual will serve as the primary coordinator for several projects and participate in the development, design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of related research. This person will also be responsible for collection and management of quantitative data on the projects they manage, therefore this person must have extensive experience using SAS or equivalent software programming for manipulating data, managing data, performing quality control checks, basic statistical analyses, and producing analytic datasets.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as overall project manager for ongoing and developing research activities. Specific activities may include, developing deliverable schedules, supporting research team meetings, tracking project progress.
• Assist in implementation of research studies. Specific activities may include data management and analysis (primarily quantitative) including organization of study data, creating analytic datasets, and data cleaning / documentation, and analyzing results.
• Will support the external funding development process. Specific activities may include identification of suitable funding opportunities, grant preparation and submission, literature review.
• Prepare project-related abstracts, posters and/or manuscripts.
REQUIRED: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Public Health or closely-related discipline, plus 1 year of related experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: To be successful candidates should have appropriate aptitude and experience (work, educational, and/or volunteer) in research; have outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team. Should have solid analytical and writing/editing skills. Experience with quantitative research methods; experience using statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Stata, R).
Project management experience.
|Working Conditions / Physical Demands||
This individual must be able to communicate via telephone for several minutes at a time. This candidate must be able to move up to 20 pounds, remain in a stationary position at a computer for several hours a day, drive to pick up or deliver documents and to photocopy. The individual needs to be able to participate in subject recruitment events.
