Terminal degree appropriate for the discipline
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor rank. The position is an academic year appointment (9 months) with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer. The anticipated starting date for the position is August 2019.
Primary duties include teaching, research/scholarship and service. Expected to teach 12 credit hours per year. Engagement in public service activities and serve on departmental, college and university-wide committees. This position is funded under a UGA initiative to increase Data Literacy in the undergraduate curriculum. The person hired for this position is expected to develop and teach innovative undergraduate courses focusing on health data literacy, analysis and communication. The individual is also expected to lead the department’s efforts of developing an undergraduate certificate program in epidemiology and public health. Commitment to student mentoring and supervision of projects and dissertation research in the department and college is further expected. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong and productive research program with extramural funding.
Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD, MD or other relevant degree) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or closely related field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the promise of moving towards excellence in research productivity and have a background commensurate with appointment to the rank of assistant professor.
