Research and Outreach - 40%
Leads and engages OMS team members in efforts to build OMS credibility by conducting our own research on survey methods and best practices. Specifically, works with the team to conduct research and share findings through presentations and publications, consulting work, and participation on committees and other workgroups. Provides expert advice in the areas of survey research.
Conducts environmental scans for best practices, innovative technology, or emerging market trends to inform staff training plans and implementation of best practices in the areas of survey research, online survey programming, testing, and reporting. Works to extend the expertise of our staff, share our knowledge with others, and ensure that we are providing high quality services to our clients.
Other duties include: Collects data and develops data collection instruments and procedures. Analyzes data; designs, collaborates, and completes research projects; conducts literature reviews, assists in grant solicitation/preparation/administration, data collection, compliance, protocol and guidance writing, etc.
Data Analysis and Reporting - 20%
Provides meaningful reports and data visualization for clients, the University, and OMS. Oversees the following reporting functions: selection of reporting tools, development of training plans or resource identification, and establishment of best practices/protocols/guidelines.
Additionally, works with OMS leaders to establish OMS performance measures and align metrics to strategic plan and business goals. Collects and analyzes data, creates reports and data visualizations that provide leaders information used to achieve operational excellence in the areas of financial planning, market research, business development, and strategic planning. Participates in reviewing, interpreting and planning courses of action based on performance metrics.
Supervision - 20%
Performs human capital management tasks such as interviewing, hiring, training, managing staff time, schedules and absences, facilitating development, and managing performance.
Specifically, assigns work to direct reports that is aligned to the priorities of the business/project, to the responsibilities of the position, and the capacity of the person. Guides employees on work planning and day-to-day task management. Fields staff questions, monitors training needs, and ensures staff are adequately trained by providing them with the necessary resources. Provides regular performance feedback and takes disciplinary action as appropriate. Ensures that all University- and OMS-approved policies that impact staff are communicated and implemented.
As member of supervisor team, participates in OMS initiatives to improve HR management. Communicates key messages to staff, checks for understanding, and notifies leadership if staff have issues, questions, or concerns.
Project Management, Consulting, and Reporting - 15%
Manages complex online or mixed-mode projects for clients internal and external to the University. Serves as the primary liaison between clients, OMS staff, and subcontractors for projects as assigned.
Gathers project requirements in order to provide estimates, proposals, and responses to RPFs. Determines project scope and resource needs, and establishes deadlines. Procures resources (staff and materials), assigns tasks to support staff, conducts quality control checks, investigates and resolves issues, crafts procedures and protocols, and cross-trains staff, as needed. Manages all aspects of the project budget and prepares and submits invoices.
Identifies project goals and objectives in order to determine sample plans, recruitment strategy and data collection method (online survey, paper-based survey, focus groups, phone etc.). Revises/creates email invitations, cover letters, questionnaires, and discussion guides.
Recommends analysis and reports based on goals and objectives. Uses software to convert files or conduct data analysis in SPSS, Excel, or Tableau. Interprets analysis and explains findings/recommendations to clients so they are able to utilize the data. Composes technical reports, executive summaries, or presentations of analysis.
Survey Administration and Reporting - 5%
Programs and tests complex surveys with advanced logic and other multifaceted requirements through Qualtrics. Optimizes user experience. Uploads and manages contact lists, sends email invitations and reminder emails. Exports and imports data. Generates and formats summary reports. Shares learning, helps establish best practice, and documents procedures.
