The Division of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics and the Biostatistics and Research Design Center at Boston Children's Hospital seek a PhD biostatistician or epidemiologist to collaborate with investigators on basic and clinical research primarily in the area of adolescent medicine. Current research areas of interest in the Division include, but are not limited to, studies on eating disorders, obesity, nutrition, bone health, sexual behavior, community programs, substance abuse, transgender care, and the effects of media exposure on adolescent health risk behaviors. The candidate will also be a member of the Biostatistics and Research Design Center, a group of 15-20 faculty and master’s statisticians with extensive involvement and long experience in the hospital’s program of pediatric research. Faculty appointment will be at the Harvard Medical School. Rank requested will be commensurate with experience and scholarly contributions. The mission of the Biostatistics Center is to promote excellence in the design and conduct of clinical and translational research by providing biostatistical and methodological expertise, consultation and collaboration to the clinical and translational investigators at Boston Children’s Hospital. Toward this goal, the candidate’s responsibilities include collaborating with investigators to define the appropriate design, analysis and reporting of research studies, and teaching short courses and mentoring adolescent medicine trainees and junior faculty in statistical methodology. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in biostatistics, statistics or epidemiology with at least 2 years of experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong interest in collaborative research. Experience and expertise are highly desired in such areas as longitudinal analysis, multi-level sampling, structural equation modeling, and related software.
