The Department of Anesthesiology, at the University of Virginia, in the School of Medicine, is currently seeking a Research Associate to support the Department’s Clinical Research team. As a Research Associate, you will be expected to support the department’s growing clinical research program. In particular, you will assist in the development, data analysis, and writing of clinician-initiated studies. It is expected that you will work with a number of clinical researchers in this endeavor. It is hoped that a number of publications will result from your work. You are responsible along with your supervisor for documenting your performance in these areas of responsibility. The position works with other clinical research staff to support our clinical faculty conduct clinical research (either clinician initiated studies or funded projects). In this position, you will learn to conduct clinical research, understand protocol and regulatory compliance, recruit and consent subjects, and collect & analyze data. In collaboration with the clinical faculty member, you may learn the principles of grant writing, designing clinical trials, and operationalizing a clinical trial, and ensuring IRB compliance. The Initial appointment will be for 1 year with possible extensions depending on the availability of funds.

Education: MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in a related field.
This job requires standing and walking for the purpose of patient recruitment , as well as possible attendance at meetings, and programs.
