ABOUT THIS POSITION
This Program Leader position leads the Health and Nutrition program area in the Extension Center for Family Development. The Program Leader provides leadership for a dynamic team of master’s level Extension Educators located across the state who conduct innovative work through informal education, using both direct education and policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) methodology. Audiences for the programs vary considerably, and include individuals, families, and professionals who serve families. Our PSE efforts include working in partnership with neighborhoods, school districts, food pantries and municipalities. Over half of the families that we serve are new immigrants, culturally diverse, economically diverse, and/or underserved audiences.
The Program Leader position supervises 12 Health and Nutrition Extension Educators and educational staff located throughout Minnesota. The person in this position is responsible for supervision of all of the programmatic efforts of the Health and Nutrition team, ensuring that programs meet defined strategic goals, are research-informed, high quality, and are impactful. The Program Leader is also responsible for program resource management and development, budget oversight and pursuing external funding to advance programs. The Program Leader is also responsible for developing effective and meaningful program and administrative partnerships that advances the Extension mission, the goals of the Health and Nutrition area, and creates new opportunities for staff and programs. This position applies subject matter knowledge in managing complex and diverse academic, education, research, and business operations.
This position is full-time and reports to the Associate Dean for Family Development, partnering with the Associate Dean to initiate new programs or realignment of programs to meet new challenges and opportunities. The position will have an office on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus, and travel will be required.

Extension Center for Family Development programs currently focus on family resilience and health and nutrition, with special effort in the areas of children’s mental health, families in transition, building healthy and strong families, and preparing for an aging Minnesota.
