Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program
The Henry Ford Cancer Institute (HFCI) invites applications for post-doctoral fellows. Applications are being solicited to start immediately. The deadline for the current round of applications is July 31, 2019. Additionally, future candidates are encouraged to apply to start in January 2020 and continuing in future years with January start dates. Future solicitations will be distributed.
Early-career scientists will have the opportunity to share in Henry Ford Hospital's research mission to become a NCI-designation worthy cancer center with robust clinical, laboratory and population science research programs that translate findings into state-of-the-art clinical care for our cancer patients.
HFCI Postdoctoral Fellows work on 1- to 2-year assignment under the leadership of HFCI scientists. HFCI supports two research programs, Cancer Epidemiology, Prevention and Control (CEPC) and Translational Oncology (TO), that conduct cancer studies involving brain, breast, colon, head & neck, lung, ovarian, pancreas, prostate, and skin. HFCI clinician scientists are active in developing cutting edge surgical techniques and cancer treatment regimens for a large diverse patient population working closely with world-class PhD research faculty including biostatisticians, cancer scientists (biologists, chemists and physicists), epidemiologists, geneticists, and pathologists that are active in advancing cancer research.
We seek talented and motivated candidates who wish to play a leading role on projects focused on cancer research. The position offers opportunities for multi-disciplinary collaborations and professional development including preparation of scientific manuscripts, presentation at scientific conferences and involvement in research grant proposal writing.
Candidates must hold an MD and/or PhD and have strong analytic skills with experience in cancer research. Communication skills with experience in research design and scientific writing are required. Their goal should be to become an independent scientist.
Stipend support is at the current NIH level.
