JOB DESCRIPTION: The position provides a project coordinator who has a record of strong communication and project management skills, the opportunity to learn about VA and CMS policies for managing the care of patients with obesity or chronic conditions, like chronic kidney disease. Applicants are placed in offices within the Durham VA HSR&D Center to be co-located with supervisors.
Working directly with a member of Center’s investigative team, the project coordinator will have responsibility for a discrete set of work activities that provide [him or her] with opportunities to provide a strong Clinical Research Office Support, communication skills and the opportunity to expand their knowledge on IRB policies. The project coordinator will be responsible for keeping study files update to each research study, coordinating and managing active clinical research studies conducted by principal investigators at Duke and Durham Veteran Affairs including. These IRB responsibilities include development of study procedures, management of research personnel, subject recruitment, and management of data collection. Provide regulatory (IRB) support (exempt, expedited and full board reviews); prepare amendments for protocols and modifications to study design as appropriate.
The project coordinator will also maintain accurate, detailed spreadsheet record for all external services (i.e., consulting, presentations, etc.) and associated expenses, payments and reimbursements and will support the development of all reports and manuscripts. Finally, the project coordinator will ensure that written communications are accurate, timely, and professional and liaison with local and off-site project personnel, and funder points of contact (as necessary).
