To promote and protect the health of citizens within Sherburne County and the State of Minnesota through education, prevention services, regulation, and advocacy. Public Health Nurses foster a partnership with many organizations and community groups to address and resolve health issues and concerns. The most important impact Public Health Nurses have on the county is the nurses' ability to empower individuals, families, communities, and systems to be self-sufficient in meeting their health and wellness needs. This is accomplished through the provision of skilled nursing using the components of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These examples of typical duties do not include all possible tasks for this classification and do not limit the assignment of related tasks. Regular attendance according to the department's approved work schedule is required for all Sherburne County positions.
Baccalaureate or higher degree with a major in nursing (no related field allowed or accepted) and completed course work which included theory and clinical practice in public health nursing. Required current licensure by the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, certification from the Minnesota Board of Nursing in Public Health Nursing, and current Minnesota driver's license.
Desirable experience/training with the following is preferred: Lactation Consultant/Counselor/Educator (IBCLC, CLC, CLE), CPR, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal communication skills, group dynamics, cultural diversity/sensitivity issues, and computer programs, such as Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and PH-Doc.

Hiring Salary Range
$27.48 - $31.16/hour
Hours of Work
This position has a usual work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include occasional evening and weekend hours.
