This position will be responsible for day-to-day activities associated with this project. In Year 1, these will include obtaining institutional review board approval, necessary data permissions, incorporating and documenting data linkage methodology, applying and evaluating data linkage methods, drafting deliverables, and writing reports and disseminating key findings to stakeholders. In Year 2, this individual will help establish the Research Advisory Board and coordinate with them to identify, prioritize, and explore research questions utilizing the NC-CISS, as well as continuing data linkage and analysis activities.
This position will work for NC DPH through Temporary Solutions but will be housed at the UNC Carolina Center for Health Informatics (CCHI). They need to be able to work with NC DETECT emergency department visit data, NC State Center for Health Statistics’ (SCHS’s) death certificate data, and the UNC Highway Safety Research Center (HSRC) crash report data. They will have responsibility for creating and evaluating the linkage methods, designing and setting up the linked data “system”, running analyses on the linked data to create reports, and providing overall project coordination. Experience working with large, secondary health data sources, designing and documenting data systems, running data analyses, and creating reports is required. Project management experience, including demonstrated ability to develop timelines and meet deliverable deadlines, is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience with at least one of the following data management and analysis tools is required: SQL, SAS, R, and/or MS Access. Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team is necessary.
