This full-time research associate (RA) position, with the Health Services Research and Development service at the Durham VA Health Care System, is in support of research projects conducted by the Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT), Department of Veterans Affairs. This posting is for a 40 hour/week position.
Participate in human subjects research training and adhere to IRB-approval study procedures.
Review medical records to screen for eligibility, record and update information (for screening, consents interviews, other information) in electronic tracking database.
Obtain verbal and/or written informed consent, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) authorization, outside medical record request forms, and follow all rules regarding HIPAA, information security and other federal regulations for conduct of human subjects research.
Recruit participants (patients and/or their caregivers) and conduct interviews via telephone.
Produce, compile and mail study materials to participants or potential participants.
Work collaboratively with all members of the study team to achieve study goals.
Provide general research assistance to the co-leaders of the project as needed, including literature reviews, formulation of tables, figures, posters and presentations, and assistance with other dissemination and communication efforts.
Knowledge/experience with computerized data collection or data entry software, and attention to detail. Experience in conduct of human subjects research including subject recruitment, enrollment, and interviewing is desired.
Salary and GS level will be commensurate with education and experience. Must be a US citizen to apply.
