The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) is seeking an Assistant Dean for Community Engagement. This highly visible senior leader reports to the SPHHP dean and works collaboratively with school leadership in our dynamic, fast-moving environment. The incumbent will direct engagement and outreach activities focused on advancing SPHHP’s reputation, facilitating accreditation, and building and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations in the community.
Through strong communication, coordination, and planning, this self-directed professional will provide the leadership and direction required to ensure SPHHP builds purposeful relationships within the community, including corporate, public and grassroots organizations, as well as foundations. The Assistant Dean plays a critical role in building sustainable relationships with a variety of audiences, focused on highlighting the work of SPHHP, raising the school’s profile, providing opportunities for collaboration, and enhancing opportunities for deeper, more meaningful partnerships.
As a strong contributor to the school’s strategic plan, the Assistant Dean must be an outcomes-focused professional focused on developing strategic action plans designed to improve results, as well as policy, processes, and budget within this area. In consultation with the dean, the Assistant Dean also will work closely with institutional advancement and communications staff. Although this is not a position with fundraising goals, the Assistant Dean’s efforts in relationship building may very well open doors for philanthropic activity.

Depending on qualifications, the Assistant Dean may be eligible for an affiliate faculty appointment, and be assigned duties in support of the academic mission. • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience building relationships in a field such as health care administration, non-profit leadership, community or business development, external affairs, public relations, community outreach or philanthropy
• Master’s degree or higher
